Parents of 4 children: Dale who died as a toddler, Ruthadel, Lurene and Vaughn.
During his infancy, his family moved to Plainview, NE. He graduated from Plainview High School.
In 1909 he drew a claim for a homestead in South Dakota and spent 16 months there.
After his marriage to Blanche, they lived near Plainview and then returned to Colome in South Dakota for five years.
In 1934, sand storms and grasshopper plagues caused them to move to Geneva to own and manage a Gambles store at 936 G Street.
In 1939, he moved the Gambles store to 858 G Street.
Vaughn took over management of the Gambles Store in 1947 after the death of his father in an auto accident.
He was an active member of the Methodist Church as well as the community club.
