Worked in the Geneva State Bank from 1908 until his death in 1977.

In 1933, he was elected president of Geneva State Bank.
In 1951, he was elected president of the Nebraska Bankers Association.
In 1972, he created a $50,000 endowment fund to further the education of Fillmore County youth.
He created a $10,000 trust fund for the benefit of the Geneva Congregational Church.
He was an active supporter of the Geneva City Library.
He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge.
He was an early member of Rotary and the Chamber of Commerce.
He was a strong supporter of the Congregational Church, especially during the building of the church in 1926.
