While a young boy, he moved with his parents to Overton. During this time, he started auctioneering.
In 1914, the family moved to Geneva where he farmed and continued auctioneering.
In 1923, Iryl moved his family to town and he also began selling cars for R. Tetard.
In 1925, Iryl worked as a salesman for the Brown-Dixon Chevrolet at 936 G Street
In 1927, Iryl and R. O. Sigman bought the Brown-Dixon business and formed the S & S Chevrolet Co.
In 1932, lryl purchased his partner’s share and continued as the Chevrolet dealer for 46 years.
In 1933, Iryl began the Geneva Sale Barn.
In 1941, Rex and Kenneth attended auction school and joined the auctioneering firm and garage business.
He was a member of the Methodist church and the Masons.
