James Albert “Jim” Biba
Born Oct. 20, 1925 in Geneva, NE to William and Anna Biba.
Died on Sept. 20, 2017 in Geneva, NE
Married to Ruth Esther Craft in 1953.
Parents to five children: David, Deba, Gary, Gregg, and Linda
Jim graduated from Geneva High School in 1943, qualified for the Navy’s V-12 program, and enlisted in the Navy.
He was called to active duty on July 1, 1943 and was sent to the University of Minnesota to study electrical engineering.
In 1946, he completed his bachelor’s degree and was commissioned as an Ensign in the Navy where he served as an officer on the USS Cleveland CL55.
Following his tour of duty, Jim continued his education at the University of Nebraska, pursuing a degree in civil engineering.
Jim joined his father in the road construction business.
While working near Rushville, Jim met Ruth, his future wife.
He earned his pilot’s license in 1969.
Jim and Ruth enjoyed traveling.
He was a lifelong member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ.
He was active in professional organizations, the Masonic Lodge, and was master during the construction of their new building.
He was a member of the Geneva School Board and the Cemetery Association Board
