In 1867, Nimrod J. and Lydia Gilmore Dixon were the first settlers to take a homestead in Fillmore County. They were the parents of Arthur J. born January 9, 1869 the first white male child born in Fillmore County.
Arthur died June 21, 1936 at his home at 244 South 6th Street in Geneva, Nebraska
A. J. was married to May Labart on May 17, 1894
They were the parents of two daughters, Vivian Muriel Fensler and Erma Leona Dixon.
A. J. grew up on the family farm, then went to Lushton where he had a hardware business. After a few years he again took up farming near Grafton.
In 1914, A. J. moved his wife and family to Geneva (244 South 6th Street)
A. J. went into the cream station and produce business. Arthur had many locations around the business district: 1008 G Street, 128 N 10th Street, 130 South 8th Street, 124 North 10th Street 115 South 10th Street and the corner of 8th and G Streets.
