1890’s This home was built by Fred Danielson.

1942 This was the residence of Elmer Sanders.

1945 This was the residence of Mrs. Arthur Larson.

1947 This was the residence of Diebold Gehrke. It was also used as a boarding house.

1956 The residence was converted into the Goldenrod Grill by Diebold’s son, Delfs and wife Merna. The Gehrke’s lived in the upstairs of the Goldenrod Grill.

1959 Sidney “Red” and Nell Sutherland of Lincoln leased the Grill from Delfs Gehrke.

1960 Both the motel and grill were sold to Mr. and Mrs. Donald Towne of North Platte.

1961 Mrs. Towne’s sister, Mrs. Effie Kelly, leased and operated the Grill.

1962 Both the motel and grill were sold to Frank Workman of Lincoln.

1963 Mavis Merrill took over management of the grill.

1963 The Goldenrod Grill was closed, and the house was sold to Howard Melton. It was moved to 1131 D Street and used as a private home.

1963 Additional motel units were built on the property, which was owned by the Gehrkes. For more information on the motel see 328 So. 13th Street.
