Butter and Cheese Factory

(This may have been located outside of Geneva, possibly in Chelsea Township.)


Oct. 1888 The stockholders of the Geneva Butter and Cheese Association met in the courtroom at Geneva to effect a permanent organization and incorporate. They elected officers and a board of directors.

Nov. 1888 The machinery for the factory arrived.

Feb. 1889 A meeting of stockholders was held at the courthouse.

Apr. 1889 John Christiancy went to the legislature in the interest of the Geneva Butter and Cheese factory.

Oct. 1889 Charles Peterson was driving a three-year-old colt between the cheese factory and the Butler bridge. The horse became frightened and upset the buggy. (The Butler bridge was ½ mile south of Geneva.)

June 1890 A representative of the paper visited the Geneva Butter and Cheese Factory. The output was 500 pounds of cheese and 300 pounds of butter per day.
