During his youth, he moved with his family to the communities of Shickley, Overton, and Geneva.
At age 16, he helped lay the brick paving on main street (G Street) in Geneva.
He received mechanic’s training in the Havelock shops in Lincoln.
Before the Depression, he had planned to go into aviation because he flew and owned his own plane.
When Shaner Chevrolet was in business, Paul was the mechanic and the “wrecker man.”
Paul was a member of the Evangelical Free Church.
