• John graduated from Geneva High School in 1916 and later the University of Nebraska College of Law.

• John practiced law in Chicago for two years until the death of his father.

• He returned to Geneva to join the family business, A. Koehler Co.

• John was on the city council, the Fillmore County fair board, and the cemetery board.

• John was also a member of the Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, American Legion, York Elks Lodge.

• John served as an Ak-Sar-Ben ambassador and was a member of the Century Club of the University of Nebraska.

• He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at Geneva.
