Al Ewalt


  • Born Feb. 16, 1863 in La Porte County, Indiana to Peter and Martha Ewalt (Ewald).

  • Died Aug. 16, 1957 in Geneva, NE.

  • Married to Ellen Nora Huston on July 10, 1888 in Geneva.

  • Parents of two children: Susan Elizabeth and Thomas Huston.

  • Came to Fillmore County in 1882 and settled here in 1884.

  • Shortly after his marriage in 1888, he went to Richmond, Ind. where he served an apprenticeship in Richmond Machine Shops.

  • Then he went to Sioux City Cable Street Car company for five years.

  • The family moved to a farm west of Geneva.

  • After a few years they moved to Geneva and opened a plumbing and well drilling company.

  • In 1890, he was located at 1022 G Street.

  • From 1903-1906, he was at 127 No. 10th.

  • In 1906 he moved to 1004 G Street.

  • In 1919, he had his business at 236 No. 9th.

  • In 1921, he and Tom had an automobile and top repair shop located at 236 No. 9th.

  • A member of the Methodist Church and also Modern Woodman Lodge.
