Bill graduated from Geneva High School in 1940 and joined his father and brother in the car business.
Bill and Rex attended auctioneer school in 1941 and began calling livestock sales with their father at the Geneva Sale Barn.
Bill enlisted in the Army in December of 1942. He attended Liaison Pilot Training in Texas and was stationed in Waco, TX.
After his marriage to Blanche, he was stationed in the Western Pacific Theater. He served with a Liaison Squadron and flew dignitaries to meetings and war sites, dropped supplies and equipment to troops, evacuated wounded and distributed photos for combat missions.
After the war, Bill returned to auctioneering and the car dealership. He also owned and operated the skating rink at 1627 G Street.
