He graduated from Geneva High School in 1920.
He excelled in football and basketball and was a lifelong supporter of athletics in Geneva.
In 1920, Stub received his barber training in the barbershop beneath Geneva State Bank with Wait, Seratte, and Dorsey Dudley.
He obtained his barber license and worked with Dean Hiatt.
In 1935, he purchased the Walton barbershop at 122 No. 9th and sold it to Gerald Walton.
In 1936, he purchased the Harry Trussel barbershop under Geneva State Bank.
In 1949, he opened a barbershop in the basement of 908 G Street. He sold it in 1967.
He was inducted into the U. S. Army in 1942 at the age of 41.
Stub was instrumental in organizing the erection of a headstone in the cemetery for Charlie Thorpe, world famous jockey that Stub had known as a small boy.
