Frank Dewitt Crawford


  • Born on April 8, 1866 in Marshaltown, Iowa to Morrell Sylvester and Margaret Idellia Crawford.

  • Died on Sept. 17, 1957 in Fairmont, NE, Buried in Geneva

  • Married to Pearle Margaret Justice in 1912.

  • Parents of Harry and Inez.

  • His parents died when he was young.

  • In 1872 at the age of six, he came to live with an aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Traver.

  • When he was 16, his uncle was killed by lightning. Frank and his aunt moved to Geneva.

  • Attended boarding school at Parsons, KS.

  • In 1887, he bought a grocery store from Hitch.

  • He learned telegraphy and worked at the Burlington depot in Geneva for six years.

  • He was the depot agent at Burress.

  • He was an agent in Dos Palos, CA for 12 years.

  • Agent for the Express Co. until it was taken over by the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad.

  • Operated a grocery store from about 1922 till 1931.

  • Member of Odd Fellows.
