1876 Coon & Haskins, blacksmith shop, one door north of Eagle Hotel
1892 The Sanborn Maps showed a dwelling here beginning in 1892 and through 1909.
1906 Mary Held purchased the east 35 feet of these lots.
1910 Frank Held has moved his tailor shop to the building north of the photograph gallery and was ready for business. Mr. Held moved here from the basement of the Skinkle building. The exterior of Held’s Tailor Shop was painted. In 1912 they purchased an additional 13 feet at the back of their property.
1917 In March F. B. Ashton purchased the property north of Ralston’s photographic gallery from Frank Held.
1917 In May, F. B. Ashton removed the original structure and replaced it with a brick building. He completed the walks and curbing in front of the new building. The driveway was made strong enough to hold a heavy load. A carload of Wisconsin marble was received in October.
1917 The building was occupied by J. A. Smith’s monument works. J. A. Smith’s office location was previously at a North 9th Street location. It is unknown where he displayed his monuments.
1919 An engraving of the Geneva Monument Works appeared in the Nebraska Signal. The designation on the building was Monuments – Smith & Ashton.
1921 F. B. Ashton purchased the Ralston Photograph Studio property immediately to the south of his brick building and incorporated it into his business complex.
1945 The Ashton Monument Works was sold to W. S. Desch & Sons of York. All equipment and materials were moved to York. Desch & Sons continued to display monuments here for several years in the grassy area in front of the brick part of the complex built in 1917.
1945 The entire complex was converted to a residential rental apartment.
1952 Shaw & McEachran, veterinarians, added this to the 130 N 8th Street location.
1957 Dr. Shaw purchased this lot from Cora Ashton.
1963 Dr. William f. Carter purchased the veterinary practice of Dr. LeGrande Shaw and located the office at 102 North 8th Street.
1975 Dr. Carter relocated to the south west part of Geneva.
1976 George Brown rented the property, living in the apartment and using the 102 North 8th Street address for his H & R Block office.
1987 John Westfall purchased the property as a residence. John and Nina Wilkins were married in 1996. This remained their home until they moved to a home on F Street.
2018 The property was sold, but the use is unknown at this time.
