Married to Thelma Johnson on August 28, 1928.
Parents to three children: an infant son who died at birth, Georgia, and Robert.
He moved to Geneva in 1916.
He graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan in 1928.
From 1927-28, he taught at Friend.
From 1928-29, he taught at Geneva.
From 1929-30, he was principal at Cedar Rapids.
From 1930-37, he was principal in Geneva.
He completed a three-year law course and passed the bar in the same year.
From 1937-1942, he was elected Fillmore County judge.
In 1942, he became Red Cross assistant field director at Little Rock, Arkansas. He was transferred to Washington, D. C. where he remained for the remainder of World War II.
In 1946, the family returned to Geneva.
From 1946-1948, he practiced law in Geneva and Aurora.
In 1948, he joined the Signal staff as reporter and editor for 24 years.
From 1972-1979, he became the associate county judge of Fillmore county.
From his retirement until his death, he wrote a weekly column, Boomerangs, until his death.
He belonged to many organizations--Rotary, Geneva Masonic Lodge, Chamber of Commerce, Board of Education, Geneva Library Board, Teacher's Association, County Fair Board, Boy Scouts, Red Cross, Chapel of Hope, Salvation Army, Geneva Alumni Association, and United Methodist Church.
