Born on May 1, 1918 on a farmstead near Geneva, NE to Iryl R. and Rose N. Owens Shaner.
Died on Jan. 12, 1989 in Lincoln, NE. Buried in Geneva Cemetery.
Married to Nona I. Usher of Fairmont on Nov. 29, 1936.
Parents of three daughters: Peggy Ann, Jo Ann, and Barbara Ann.
He graduated from Geneva High School in 1936 and joined his father in the car dealership business, Shaner Chevrolet.
They later included Oldsmobiles.
In 1941, Rex attended the Reppert School of Auctioneering and joined with his father in the auctioneering business.
Rex was interested in shooting sports and became an avid trapshooter.
In 1981, Rex was inducted into the Nebraska Trapshooting Hall of Fame.
Rex was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater.
He was a member of the Methodist church, the Masons, Order of Eastern Star, Scottish Rite, Sesostris Shrine Temple, Nebraska Trapshooters Hall of Fame, and Geneva Gun Club.
