In 1883, Jensen and Cooksey formed a law partnership and operated out of the Platt House at 180 So.8th.
In 1885, Cooksey was the postmaster at 806 G Street.
In 1886, Cooksey was the proprietor of the Fillmore County Democrat.
In 1895, he ran a drug store at 858 G Street and later at 824 G Street.
In 1897, Cooksey moved his stock to Burress, thinking that the outlook looked good there.
W. H. served a term in the state legislature and was a member of Odd Fellows and A. O. U. W. Order.
