As a young boy, Morgan moved to Scott and Taylor Counties in Iowa.
He became a blacksmith and then began the study of medicine.
In 1884 after graduating from Keokuk, IA medical college, he moved to Geneva where he practiced until his health failed in 1910.
In 1887, he was located at 822 ½ G Street.
In 1890, he was located at 872 G Street.
In 1901, he was located at 972 G Street.
He was a member of the Masons and Knights of Pythias.
He served ten years on the city council and the pension board.
