6/3 - 6/17: Optimization, Related Rates, and Expos

We're wrapping up our study of differential calculus by studying optimization problems and related rate problems. We'll also have our last Expos of the year.

Monday, 6/3 - Mr. Lao was sick and absent from school. You explored an application of implicit differentiation and the chain rule in what are called "related rates" problems. Here is the worksheet you worked on in class.

Tuesday, 6/4 - it's Eid and there's no school.

Wednesday, 6/5 - we are introduced to the idea of using derivatives to find optimal values for real world problems. Here are the slides from class. Here is the worksheet that is for HW.

Thursday, 6/6 - it's a Chancellor's Conference Day and there are no classes in session.

Friday, 6/7 - we prepped for next week. You received back your Spring Interim Assessments and were given graphic organizers to review four questions of your choice from the IA. This assignment will be due by the end of the day on Monday, 6/17 and you can hand your assignment to Mr. Lao or drop it off on his desk in 176 or put it in his mailbox in the Main Office. You received your summer assignments for preparation for Math HL Year Two. Finally, you received your Expo problems for presentations next week.

Monday, 6/10 - Wednesday, 6/12 - Mr. Lao is absent from school to go on the PBC trip with Class I. In class, you can either work on your Expo presentations or you can work on reviewing questions from your Spring Interim Assessment.

Thursday, 6/13 - Friday, 6/14 - we will have Expo presentations in class.

Monday, 6/17 - we don't have class because most of you will be taking a LOTE exam. Your Spring Interim Assessment review questions assignment will be due by the end of the day today and you can hand your assignment to Mr. Lao or drop it off on his desk in 176 or put it in his mailbox in the Main Office.
