1/29 - 2/15: Trigonometry

Older Trigonometry Lessons

Friday, 12/21 - Mr. Lao is not in class today. You are going to start and refresh your memory about some basic ideas in trigonometry. Here are the notes from class.

Wednesday, 1/9 - we started our study of trigonometry by reviewing how we use radians, angles, the unit circle, and trigonometric ratios. Here are the slides from class. Here are the problems we practiced in class.

Thursday, 1/10 - we looked at certain geometry formulae using trigonometry (area of a triangle, arc length, and area of a sector). Here are the notes and problems from class.

Friday, 1/11 - we looked at why most trigonometric equations have multiple solutions. Here are the notes and problems from class.

Thursday, 1/17 & Friday, 1/18 - we looked at solving trigonometric equations with multiple solutions by using the Unit Circle. Here are the notes and problems from class.

Current Trigonometry Lessons

Tuesday, 1/29 - we analyzed the graphs of trigonometric waves. Here are the slides from class. Here is the worksheet from class that includes your HW, which is p. 311 (Ex. 7.3) #13-16, 19.

Wednesday, 1/30 - we solved more complex trigonometric equations. Here are the slides from class (including worked solutions to today's and tomorrow's HW problems). Your HW is p. 321 (Ex. 7.4) #9, 25, 27, 29, 31. You should also review 4 problems from your Fall Interim Assessment using this graphic organizer, due Monday, 2/11.

Thursday, 1/31 - we practiced solving more trigonometric equations. Here are the slides from class. Here are the problems we used to practice. Your HW is p. 321 (Ex. 7.4) #26, 32, 35, 36, 40, 41. You can find the worked solutions to these problems in yesterday's slides.

Friday, 2/1 - we used trigonometric identities. Here are the slides from class. Here is a sheet of all the trigonometric identities. Your HW (due Wednesday) is p. 333 (Ex. 7.5) #2, 6, 11, 12, 38-40. Don't forget to redo 4 IA problems, due Monday, 2/11.

Monday, 2/4 - we solved trigonometric equations with our GDC (but Mr. Lao was not in class. Here are the slides from class. Here is the worksheet your worked on in class. Your HW (due Wednesday) is p. 321 (Ex. 7.4) #37, 38, 39, 42. Don't forget to redo 4 IA problems, due Monday, 2/11.

Tuesday, 2/5 - It's Lunar New Year! Happy Year of the Pig!

Wednesday, 2/6 - We solved equations that need the use of trigonometric identities. Here are the slides from class. Here are the problems from class, including the solutions. Your HW is p. 333 (Ex. 7.5) #48-54 (even).

Thursday, 2/7 - we worked more closely with the inverse trigonometric functions. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is p. 344 (Ex. 7.6) #13-16, 27, 30-3.

Friday, 2/8 - we worked with the Law of Sines and the Law of Cosines. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is p. 380 (Ex. 8.3/8.4) #9-12, 20-21.

Monday, 2/11 - we worked with a special case of the Law of Sines, called the Ambiguous Case. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is p. 380 (Ex. 8.3/8.4) #3, 5, 14, 15, 18, 28.

Tuesday, 2/12 - we worked with both the Law of Sines and the Law of Cosines in word problems, particularly those involving 3D objects. Here are the slides from class. Here are the problems from class. Your HW is p. 390 (Ex. 8.5) #11, 13, 17-19.

Wednesday, 2/13 and Thursday 2/14 - we are practicing all of our trigonometry skills thus far, in preparation for our exam. Here are the problems we used to practice from class. Here are the solutions to those problems.

Friday, 2/15 - we have our first exam of the semester, on trigonometry.

Happy Mid-Winter Recess!
