Happy New Year!

We are wrapping up our study of differential calculus this month. First, we'll study more special ways to find derivatives. Then, we'll apply all of our knowledge of derivatives to optimization problems.

Tuesday, 1/2 - we learned the product rule for differentiating products of functions. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is Exercise 13.3 #1a,b,c,d,g,k, #2c.

Wednesday, 1/3 - we learned the quotient rule for differentiating quotients of functions. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is Ex 13.3 #1e, f, h, i, l, 2b.

Thursday, 1/4 - SNOW DAY

Friday, 1/5 - we practiced using the product and quotient rules of derivatives. Here are the slides from class. Your HW due Monday is Ex. 13.3 #3ab, 5, 6.

Monday, 1/8 - we used a guess and check method to find the optimal solution to problems. Here are the slides from class.

Tuesday, 1/9 - we formalized the process of Optimization. Here are the slides from class. Here is the worksheet with problems from class, including your HW. Your HW is Exercise 11.3 #22; Exercise 13.5 #3; Exercise 13.5 #24.

Wednesday, 1/10 - we worked on optimization problems involving geometric figures. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is Exercise 13.4 #2, 4.

Thursday - 1/11 - we worked on more difficult geometric optimization problems. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is Ex. 13.5 #29, Ch.13 Practice Questions #17.

Friday, 1/12 - We worked on geometric optimization problems involving Cartesian coordinates. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is Exercise 13.5 #22, 26.

Tuesday, 1/16 - we have a group quiz on optimization problems.

Wednesday, 1/17 - we practiced derivative rules and optimization problems in preparation for our optimization exam. Here are the problems and solutions from class.

Thursday, 1/18 - we have our exam on derivative rules (formula book rules, product rule, quotient rule, chain rule) and optimization.

Friday, 1/19 - we
