We have moved to finding more sophisticated derivatives.
Wednesday, 5/11 - we looked at the derivatives of some common functions and applied them in familiar ways. Here are the derivatives of many common functions (from your formula book). Here are the slides from class. Your HW is p. 728 (Ex. 15.2) #2a, 3, 7, 11 and p. 743 (Ex. 15.3) #42.
Thursday, 5/12 - we looked at the chain rule for finding the derivatives of composite functions. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is p. 715 (Ex. 15.1) #1abdeghjk and 5.
Friday, 5/13 - we practiced using the chain rule. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is p. 728 (Ex. 15.2) #1bcfgjkl, 2c.
Monday, 5/16 - we looked at the product and the quotient rules today. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is p. 715 (Ex. 15.1) #1cfim and p. 728 (Ex. 15.2) #1adhi.
Tuesday, 5/17 - we continued to practice using the product and quotient rules. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is p. 715 (Ex. 15.1) #6, 8 and p. 728 (Ex. 15.2) #8, optional challenge #14.
Wednesday, 5/18 - we looked at implicit differentiation. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is p.743 (Ex. 15.3) #2, 12, 14, 18, optional challenge #19.
Thursday, 5/19 - Mr. Lao is absent from school but you did practice problems on the derivatives rules in class. Here are the problems from class, some of which you can try for HW.
Friday, 5/20 - we did practice problems for all the derivative rules we've seen.
Monday, 5/23 - we have a quiz on derivative rules (derivatives of common functions found in your formula booklet, the chain rule, the product rule, the quotient rule, implicit differentiation, and using all of these derivatives in things like tangent/normal lines or analyzing function behavior (stationary points, concavity, etc.).
