We're starting our study of differential calculus this week.

Monday, 4/11 - we tried to find Ms. Yang's exact speed at 7:30 PM. Here are the slides from class. Here is your HW: read the article and respond to the questions on the back. If you're curious, here's the original link to the article for HW, and here is the link to Mr. Strogatz's series of articles on math: a very good read if you have the time - and if you enjoy these, I have his book, The Joy of X, which you can borrow.

Tuesday, 4/12 - we looked at secant lines, average rates of change, tangent lines, and instantaneous rates of change. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is on the back of this worksheet.

Wednesday, 4/13 - you went on college trips.

Thursday, 4/14 - we found the derivative from first principles. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is p. 597 (Ex. 13.2) #1-5

Friday, 4/15 - we found the derivative from the power rule. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is p. 597 (Ex. 13.2) #6-13.

Monday, 4/18 - we found and used equations of tangent and normal lines to functions. Here are the slides from class. Your HW. is p. 619 (Ex. 13.4) #1d, 2d, 4, 6, 8, 9.

Tuesday, 4/19 - we looked at how to find derivatives on our GDCs. Here are the slides from class. You have a quiz tomorrow.

Wednesday, 4/20 - we have a quiz on finding derivatives using first principles and shortcuts, using derivatives to find gradients, and finding tangent and normal lines.

Thursday, 4/21 and Friday, 4/22 - Mr. Lao is absent because he is on the Italy trip with seniors. You will be working on reviewing and correcting your Term 3 Interim Assessment.
