3/9 - 3/24: Non-right Triangles

We're using our knowledge about right triangles to help us reason and analyze nonright triangles. Our spatial reasoning and visualization skills we developed with right triangles will be helpful as we think about the relationships found in all kinds of triangles, not just right triangles.

Thurs, 3/5 - we learned a new way to find the area of a triangle, one that doesn't rely upon an altitude, which is not always given to us. Here are the slides from class and here is your HW. This topic is not on your exam, which is tomorrow.

Mon, 3/9 and Tues, 3/10 - we learned the Law of Sines, also called the Sine Rule. Here are the slides from class and here is the worksheet for HW. You should work on this for HW Monday night but you don't need to finish. We'll work on it in class all of Tuesday, and then you'll finish for Tuesday night for HW so I'll check it on Wednesday in class.

Wed, 3/11 and Thurs, 3/12 - we worked with a special case of the Sine Rule, called the ambiguous case of the Law of Sines. Here are the slides from class and here is our guided worksheet with the tasks we used to discover the ambiguous case - the solutions are at the end. We used rulers, protractors, and compasses in class.
