Monday, 9/24 - Thursday, 10/12: Antidifferentiation and Integration Techniques

Post date: Sep 25, 2017 2:09:05 AM

We are beginning our first new unit of study - integral calculus. This is a continuation of the calculus we learned last year. Here again is the sheet you were given in class, complete with clickable links to review the Chain Rule, which will be very important to us moving forward.

Monday, 9/25 & Tuesday, 9/26 - we reviewed most of the key topics about derivatives from last year. Here are the slides from class. Here is the worksheet with all the review problems from class. Your HW due Wednesday is Ch.15 Prac. Q. (p. 762) #4, 7, 40. Here is the HL formula book in case you need it. Your next mind map is due on Monday, 10/2.

Wednesday, 9/27 - we introduced antiderivatives and guessed a rule about finding antiderivatives of any power function. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is Ex. 16.1 (p. 780) #1-6.

Thursday, 9/28 - we used some common antiderivative formulae and also found the value of the constant of integration in certain problems. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is Ex. 16.1 (p. 780) #7-10 & #16-19.

Friday, 9/29 - we practiced finding antiderivatives. Here are the problems from class. Your HW is to finish what you did not finish in class.

Monday, 10/2 - we found antiderivatves using a technique called substitution. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is Ex. 16.1 (p. 780) #21-42 multiples of three.

Tuesday, 10/3 - we practiced finding antiderivatives using substitution. Here are the slides from class. Here is the worksheet of problems from class, including your HW. Here are the worked out solutions to all HW problems from Exercise 16.1. Here is a color-coded explanation of why the substitution method works. Your HW is printed on the sheet of problems from class, but is Exercise 16.1 (page 780) of your textbook #25, 26, 34, 38, 41, 44, 48, 49.

Wednesday, 10/4 - we used the method of integration by parts to find antiderivatives. Here are the slides from class. Here is the worksheet of notes from class, which includes your HW. Your HW is p. 786 (Ex. 16.2) #5-7, 9, 11.

Thursday, 10/5 - we practiced using integration by parts, particularly in problems where we need to use it twice. Here are the slides from class. Here is the worksheet of notes from class, which includes the HW. Your HW is Exercise 16.2 (p. 786) #2, 3, 8, 10, 19.

Friday, 10/6 - we practiced lots of different kinds of antidifferentiation, specifically trying to figure out which rule/method to work in which situation. Here are the slides from class and here are the problems from class. Your HW is to tell someone you care about one specific thing that you appreciate about them. A mind map is also due Tuesday.

Monday, 10/9 - No school for Columbus Day and Indigenous Peoples' Day.

Tuesday, 10/10 - we continued to practice lots of different kinds of integrals. Here are the new problems from class.

Wednesday, 10/11 - you had senior workshops.

Thursday, 10/12 - you have your quiz on antidifferentiation. Included on your quiz are finding antiderivatives, finding a specific antiderivative (the value of the "+c"), find antiderivatives with substitution, and finding antiderivatives with integration by parts (perhaps applied more than once).
