We did a fun side lesson today about what parabolas actually are.

Here is the worksheet you got in class. The first page is the fixed focus (point) and directrix (line) that we worked with. The second page is blank graph paper for you to draw your own focus and your own directrix to make your own parabola. The third page is an optional HW assignment that everyone has the ability to do, about deriving the equation y=x^2. The fourth page is an optional assignment that is an HL challenge question about deriving the general form of a quadratic function.
