We're wrapping up our study of differential calculus.
Monday, 6/6 - Wednesday, 6/8 - Unfortunately, Mr. Lao will be absent from school on these days and will be on the Class I PBC trip. You are working on this packet about kinematics and one dimensional motion and learning how we apply calculus to these ideas. The classwork and the homework for each day is described in that packet.
Thursday, 6/9 - You don't have school, but teacher's do!
Friday, 6/10 - we reviewed an interesting optimization problem where the maximum value occurs at the endpoint of the domain. Here are the slides from class. Additionally, there is information about your end of year schedule in those slides, as well as information about the Term 4 Math IA and IA exemptions.
Monday, 6/13 - We reviewed kinematics. Here are the slides from class.
Friday, 6/17 - Your Term 4 Math Interim Assessment is at 8AM. It will be approximatley 40% calculus, 30% vectors, and 30% other material from the rest of the year.
Here are some resources to help you study:
Calculus resources:
- See the months of May/June for notes
Vectors resources:
- Vector algebra & geometry practice problems
- Dot product practice problems
- Notes for vector lines in 2D and notes for vector lines in 3D
- Vector lines problems
- Parallel, coincident, skew, intersecting lines notes
- Dot product and vector lines practice problems
- Cross product practice problems
- Equation of a plane notes
- Angles in space notes and problems
- Intersections in space notes and problems
- Long IB HL vector problems (collaborative problem solving)
Other past resources:
- Any past homework assignment
- The end of chapter practice questions are a good source of more practice questions (p. 85 for Chapter 2 [functions]; p. 149 for Chapter 3 [polynomials]; p. 200 for Chapter 4 [sequences and series, binomial theorem, mathematical induction]; p. 243 for Chapter 5 [exponentials and logarithms]; p. 346 for Chapter 7 [trigonometric functions]; p.426 for Chapter 9 [2D vectors]; p. 689 for Chapter 14 [3D vectors]; p. 620 for Chapter 13 [Calculus Part 1]; p. 762 for Chapter 15 [Calculus Part 2]).
- Past exams and quizzes (like your Unit 1 exam on functions or your Take Home Quiz on Counting or your Take Home Quiz on Mathematical Induction/Binomial Theorem)
- Summary of quadratics
- Summary of polynomials
- Sequences and Series Practice Problems (and my solutions and the IB answer key)
- Binomial Theorem/Mathematical Induction Extra Practice Problems
- Summary of exponentials and logarithms
- Exponentials and logarithms answer to HW (Chapter 5 Practice Questions)
- Exponentials and logarithms extra practice problems
- Summary for Trigonometry.
