Our last unit of study will be statistics and probability.

You have a Delta Math assignment due Monday June 9 at 8AM.

There is also an optional Regents Review Delta Math assignment. The members of the top scoring recitation will receive a bonus 2% to their final Term 4 grade, provided that you have completed at least 10% of the assignment yourself (which is 30 problems).

  • On Monday 5/30 we learned about measures of central tendency (mean, median, mode) but more specifically about measures of spread, and in particular, standard deviation. Here is the worksheet from class and here are the slides from class.
  • On Monday 6/2 we looked at standard deviation in terms of the normal distribution bell curve. Here is the worksheet from class and here are the slides from class.
  • On Tuesday 6/3 we practiced problems involving the normal distribution. Here are the problems from class, here are the answers, and here are the slides from class.
  • On Wednesday 6/4 we learned how to count in various ways (fundamental counting principles, permutations, permutations with repetitions). Here are the slides from class.
  • Thursday 6/5 you had no school! Do your Delta Math, please!
  • On Friday 6/6 we learned how to count with combinations, then we did practice problems involving combinations and permutations. Here are the slides from class. Delta Math has excellent problems involving these counting topics.
  • On Monday 6/9, we did probability problems involving combinations. Here are the slides from class.
  • On Tuesday, 6/10, we did probability problems involving permutations. Here are the slides from class.
  • On Wednesday, 6/11 we looked at Pascal's Triangle and how we can use it to expand binomials. Here are the slides from class.
  • On Thursday 6/12 we looked at binomial probabilities. Here are the slides from class.
  • On Friday 6/13 we looked at regression. Here are the slides from class, and here is the worksheet from class.
