We are learning about a method of proof, called the principle of mathematical induction, that allows us to prove statements that pertain to an infinite number of situations are true.

Monday, 12/5 - you have a counseling workshop in class. As a reminder, your test corrections for the sequences and series exam is due tomorrow. Here again are the procedures for test corrections.

Tuesday 12/6 - we are introduced to the idea of the principle of mathematical induction, and used induction to prove propositions about summations are true. Here are the slides from class. Here is the worksheet from class detailing the process of mathematical induction and applying it to one example. Your HW is new edition p. 199/old edition p. 189 (Ex. 4.7) #6, 7, 12.

Wednesday, 12/7 - We used induction to prove propositions pertaining to explicit formulae for recursive sequences. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is new edition p. 199/old edition p. 189 (Ex. 4.7) #2, 3, 4.

Thursday, 12/8 - We used induction to prove propositions pertaining to divisibility of numbers. Here are the slides from class. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is new edition p. 199/old edition p. 189 (Ex. 4.7) #14, 15, 18.

Friday, 12/9 - We practiced proof by the principle of mathematical induction, especially with propositions of summations written with sigma notation. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is new edition p. 199/old edition p. 189 (Ex. 4.7) #16, 20a & new edition p. 200/old edition p. 190 (Ch 4 Practice Questions) #24, 28.

Monday, 12/12 - We have a group practice day (participation quiz) on the binomial theorem and mathematical induction.

Tuesday, 12/13 - We are reviewing for our Interim Assessment. Here are the slides from class. Here is the collection of all of your past exam problems.

Friday, 12/16 - you have your Math Interim Assessment.
