Complete the survey if you have not done so yet!

We are easing into the school year by starting with the fundamentals that are necessary for IB Math. Today, tomorrow, Thursday, and Friday of this week, we will be working on the class work problems in class. I will collect all of your class work at the end of class on Friday.

You also have homework, which you should budget your time with. It will be due at the beginning of class on Monday.

We will have a quiz on Monday. This quiz will be comprised solely of problems taken from both the classwork and the homework problems.

Here are the slides from class from Tuesday.

Here are my handwritten solutions to the class work problems. Here are the worked out solution to the HW problems. Here are the worked out solutions to the optional HL extension problems. I (and Ms. Yang) showed all of our work!

Here is the description of the assignment. Note that these are photocopies of pages from Chapter 1 of your textbook. Since I am not yet passing out books to you, but you may need a reference text, I am including here a link to the first chapter of the textbook which you can reference to aid you with the HW. In class, textbooks will be available to you for your reference.

Five major reasons I think reviewing Chapter 1 Fundamentals are:

  1. It is a great way for me to learn what you guys remember from Algebra and Algebra 2 and what you guys need more support on.
  2. It is a gentle, low risk way for you to ease your brain back into a mathematical mindset before we start IB material.
  3. You get a chance early on in this school year to practice time budgeting skills in completing the HW.
  4. It is an easy way for me to observe you guys working in groups together so that in the future, we can work together to develop the most effective groups for the majority of people.
  5. I can learn your names.

Finally, you have homework for this week. Due by Friday, September 13, please:

  1. Read over the course syllabus and the welcome letter with your parent/guardian.
  2. Gather all materials for the course.
  3. Bookmark this website.
  4. Complete a short survey. Complete the survey as fully as possible. Make sure you complete all pages of the survey and finish by clicking “Submit” on the last page.
