Monday, 3/30 - Thursday 4/2
Post date: Mar 29, 2015 7:10:58 PM
Here is a schedule for this week:
- Monday, 3/30: Normal schedule
- Tuesday, 3/31: History IA, Latin IA
- Wednesday, 4/1: English IA, Math IA
- Thursday, 4/2: Science IA, Elective IA
- Friday, 4/3: No School - Spring Break
Our Term 3 Interim Assessment is on Wednesday, April 1st at 10:30 AM. It will cover material primarily from this year, which has been differential calculus (derivatives), integral calculus (integration), and descriptive statistics.
All problems are non-GDC and solutions should be non-GDC, but you can have a GDC if you want. The textbook has great IB style Practice Questions at the end of each chapter.
- Chapter 11: Derivatives, tangent lines, normal lines, maxima, minima, inflection points, concavity, first derivative test, second derivative test, rectilinear, i.e. 1-D, motion [Practice Questions on page 387]
- Chapter 13: Special derivatives, product rule, quotient rule, chain rule, optimization [Practice Questions on page 458]
- Chapter 14: Antiderivatives, indefinite integrals, definite integrals, area under curves, area between curves, volumes of solids of revolution, rectilinear motion [Practice Questions on page 491]
- Chapter 9: Mean, median, mode, standard deviation, frequency table, histograms, cumulative frequency graphs (ogives), quartiles, IQR, 5-number summary, box-and-whisker plots, using your GDC [Practice Questions on page 303]
Here are some documents that will help you study for our Math IA:
- Any HW assignment you have received
- Term 1 Review: Key ideas and Review problems
- Tangent line and normal line problems
- Curve sketching problems
- Motion packet and motion problems
- Optimization problems
- Chain rule, motion, and optimization review problems
- Term 2 Review: Key ideas and Review problems
- Sine, cosine, exponential, natural log problems
- Kinematics and Optimization with More Complicated Derivatives
- Antiderivative Practice (u-substitution)
- Integration Rules/Integrals as Area Practice
- Mixed Antiderivative Practice
- Integrals Practice (all topics)
- IB 2 mm graph paper
- Statistics problems that will appear on the IA will be just like the ones we've done in class with frequency tables, histograms, cumulative frequency graphs (ogives), standard deviation, mean, median, mode, the 5-number summary, IQR, and box-and-whisker plots. Any HW you've been assigned for statistics is great practice.
Happy Spring Break!
