We are learning about recurrence relations.

Wednesday, 1/11 - we looked at recurrence relations and specifically at using induction to prove general formulae are true. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is p.136 (Ex. 8A) #1-4.

Thursday, 1/12 - we solved first degree inhomogeneous linear recurrence relations with constant coefficients. Here is the worksheet from class. Your HW is Page 138 (Exercise 8B) #1 (ii only), #4-5.

Friday, 1/13 - we solved second degree homogeneous linear recurrence relations with constant coefficients. Here is the worksheet from class. Your HW is p. 142 (Ex. 8C) #2a, 3a, 5, 6.

Monday, 1/16 - MLK Day, No School. Enjoy your three day weekend!

Tuesday, 1/17 - we saw how recurrence relations can appear in real world problems in context. Here are the slides from class. Here is the worksheet from class. Your HW is p. 145 (Ex. 8D) #1, 3, 5, 9.

Wednesday, 1/18 - we did practice problems to prepare for our exam happening tomorrow. Here are the linear congruence practice problems we saw earlier. Here are some IB style recurrence relation practice problems.

Thursday, 1/19 - we have our last exam of the Fall Semester. The topics are linear congruences (modular arithmetic, systems of linear congruences, the Chinese Remainder Theorem, Fermat's Little Theorem) and recurrence relations (using induction, solving first order linear recurrence relations, solving second order homogeneous linear recurrence relations).
