We are continuing our study of derivatives and seeing how they can be applied to equations of tangent and normal lines.
Monday, 10/31 - we talked about your next steps for your Internal Assessment in math, the Math Exploration. We looked at the rubric for the project and outlined expectations for your next due date. Here is the rubric for the paper and some notes for writing. Here are the slides from class detailing your next steps for the Exploration. A rough draft of the main math involved in your paper is due for peer review on Monday, December 5th. Please bring a printed copy to class.

Tuesday, 11/1 - we continued working on the Math Exploration and finalized topics.
Wednesday, 11/2 - we wrote the equations of tangent lines to curves and also found derivatives on the GDC. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is Exercise 11.4 #1.
Thursday, 11/3 - we used equations of tangent lines. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is Exercise 11.2 #19-21.
Friday, 11/4 - we have Discipulus Led Conferences and had R1-R6. We wrote and used equations of normal lines to curves. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is Exercise 11.4 #2 (for c,d) and Chapter 11 Practice Questions #3,7.
Monday, 11/7 - we did more difficult application problems of tangent and normal lines. Here are the problems we tried in class (we did #1a and b). Your HW is Exercise 11.2 #24, Exercise 11.4 #8, Chapter 11 Practice Questions #13.
Tuesday, 11/8 - Election Day (no students)
Wednesday, 11/9 - we did more application problems of tangent and normal lines.
Thursday, 11/10 - we have a full period quiz on finding derivatives using first principles, with the power rule, and using derivatives to find slopes, tangent lines, and normal lines. Your HW for the long weekend is to continue work on your Math Exploration.
Friday, 11/11 - Veterans Day (no school). Please continue work on your Math Exploration this weekend. Your first rough draft for peer review is Monday, December 5th.
