Applications of Derivatives: Monday, May 1st - Friday, May, 12th

Post date: May 1, 2017 6:01:13 PM

We are continuing our study of calculus.

Monday, 5/1 - we used the second derivative to tell us about a function's concavity. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is p. 612 (Ex. 13.3) #16, 18, 19.

Tuesday, 5/2 - we combined information from the first derivative and from the second derivative to sketch functions. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is p. 612 (Ex. 13.3) #18, 23, 26-28.

Wednesday, 5/3 - we practice sketching curves with information from the first and the second derivatives. Here are the slides from class. Here is the worksheet from class, which is your HW, but only #1 and #2 at the bottom of the page.

Thursday, 5/4 - we continued to practice sketching curves, particularly seeing what information we can gain from the graphs of derivatives to interpret the graph of the original function. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is Worksheet 18F.1 #1acde, #2befg.

Friday, 5/5 - we found and used derivatives of some other common functions. Here is a list of derivative rules. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is p. 728 (Ex. 15.2) #2a, 3, 7, 11 and p. 743 (Ex. 15.3) #42.

Monday, 5/8 - we learned about the chain rule for finding derivatives of composite functions. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is p. 715 (Ex. 15.1) #1abdeghjk, 5.

Tuesday, 5/9 - we continued to practice using the Chain Rule. Here are the slides from class. Good luck studying for your Interim Assessments. Here is a review packet of IB problems to help you study for your IA. Here are the answers to all of those review problems.

Wednesday, 5/10 - you have your Spring Semester Math Interim Assessment. It will primarily cover the topics of exponential functions, logarithms, trigonometry, vectors, and calculus. Here is a review packet of IB problems to help you study for your IA. Here are the answers to all of those review problems.

Thursday, 5/11 & Friday, 5/12 - you have your remaining Interim Assessments.
