Summer 2016 Assignment

Congratulations on finishing your junior year of high school!

There's a lot of fun stuff to look forward to next year - senior dress down days, senior only events, college acceptances, senior trips, prom, graduation - but also plenty of work in store as well.

For Math HL this year we have learned about functions, polynomials, sequences and series, the binomial theorem, mathematical induction, exponentials and logaraithms, trigonometry, 2D and 3D vectors, and differential calculus. Feel proud of all the things you've learned!

Next year, you will be learning the second half of calculus (integral calculus), as well as probability, statistics, and an HL Math Option topic, discrete mathematics. You will also be completing the IB math internal assessment. All of this will be in time for your IB external assessments which will start on Monday, May 1st, 2017.

To keep us on track, I have assigned to you summer work in math. It is a series of 11 lessons which should take approximately 45 minutes each, with a half hour of homework following each lesson. I encourage you to work with a friend on these lessons. Please don't be intimidated by the thickness of the packet - most of the pages are the full worked solutions to the problems assigned for the lessons or for homework. I've also provided way more than 30 minutes worth of problem for HW for each lesson, so please don't feel the need to do ALL of the problems - stick to 30 minutes worth. In any case, all solutions are provided.

Here is the IB Math HL 2 Summer Assignment. Please let me know if you have any questions, especially by emailing me.
