We're reviewing and extending our knowledge of functions. We're going to have an exam on this topic on Thursday, 10/6.

Wednesday, 9/21 - we reviewed definitions of function, and looked at domain and range. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is Ex. 2.1 (p. 55) #10, 16-25.

Thursday, 9/22 - we reviewed and extended our knowledge of function composition, with special attention paid to the domain of a composite function. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is Ex. 2.2 (p. 60) #3, 5, 7, 11, 14, 15, 21.

Friday, 9/23 - we reviewed and extended our knowledge of function inverses. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is Ex. 2.3 (p. 68) #2, 5, 13, 21, 26, 38. Bring your GDCs (graphing calculators) to class on Monday and Tuesday!

Monday, 9/26 - we will work with your GDCs to graph functions. Here are the slides from class, full of lots of useful GDC tips and tricks. Here is the worksheet for HW. For HW, you should do Ex. 2K #1a.

Tuesday, 9/27 - we continued to work with our GDC and paid particular attention to intersections between functions. Here are the slides from class. Here is the worksheet for HW. For HW, you should do Ex. 2K #1d and Ex. 2L #1-3.

Wednesday, 9/28 - we reviewed function transformations and focused on problem solving with function transformations. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is Ex. 2.4 (p. 84) #19.

Thursday, 9/29 - we composed functions with the absolute value function and analyzed the resulting graphs. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is Ex. 2.4 (p. 84) only parts b & c for #24-26 (use GDC to check work).

Friday, 9/30 - we had an IPS about the reciprocal function. No HW for the long weekend.

Wednesday, 10/5 - we did practice problems to review for our exam.

Thursday, 10/6 - we have an exam on functions: function notation, domain, range, function composition, function composition domain and range, function inverses, function transformations, using the GDC to graph functions, finding intersections of functions to solve equations, and composition with the absolute value function. Please memorize the function transformations.
