We continued looking at linear functions this week.

On Tuesday, 1/20 we looked at how linear functions can model real world linear situations. Here are the slides from class and here is the worksheet with problems due for HW. Your HW is all four problems.

On Wednesday, 1/21 we graphed lines and looked at parallel and perpendicular lines. Here are the slides from class and your HW is p. 77 (Ex 3.4) #15a,d; p. 171 (Ex 5.7) #1, 2.

On Thursday, 1/22, you did an Independent Problem Solving assignment in class related to finding out when two lines intersect. No HW tonight.

On Friday 1/23, we reviewed for our IA. Here are some problems to help you prepare for your Term 2 IA.

Our Term 2 Math IA is on Monday, 1/26 at 10:30 AM. The IB Math Studies 1 IA will be on

  • Number (number sets, rounding, scientific notation, significant figures, percent error, unit conversion)
  • Sets (Venn diagrams, union, intersection, complement, subset)
  • Logic (propositions, logical connectors, truth tables, inverse, converse, contrapositive, tautology, contradiction, logical equivalence, valid arguments)
  • Probability (simple probability, complementary events, mutually exclusive, dependent, independent, conditional, tree diagrams, Venn diagrams, tables, at least one, with replacement, without replacement)
  • Sequences and Series (arithmetic sequences, geometric sequences, recursive and explicit formulae for both arithmetic and geometric sequences, arithmetic series, geometric series, sigma notation)
  • Functions and Linear Models (definition of function, function notation, domain, range, linear functions, gradient, intercepts, simultaneous linear equations, graphs)

Here are some documents and things you can be using to study for our Math IA.
