2/25 - 3/15: Vector Geometry and Algebra

We're starting our study of Vectors by looking at how to represent vectors and basics about their geometry and algebra.

Monday, 2/25 - we are introduced to what vectors are and how we represent them. Here are the slides from class.

Tuesday, 2/26 - we are introduced to the geometry of vectors, and how we represent arithmetic operations with the geometry. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is p. 407 (Ex. 9.1/9.2) #1, 10, 19.

Wednesday, 2/27 - we are introduced to the symbolic representation of vectors, in particular in component form with numbers. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is this worksheet.

Thursday, 2/28 - we are introduced to the algebra of vectors, and how we represent arithmetic operations with symbols. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is p. 407 (Ex. 9.1/9.2) #15-17.

Friday, 3/1 - we investigated how to represent the vector between two points in the plane. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is p. 407 (Ex. 9.1/9.2) #2, 7, 11, 14, 21.

Your Class II College Field Trips are upcoming on Tuesday, April 16th. Please submit your preferences for which trip you'd like to attend at this link. Please submit your preferences by 10PM, Monday, 3/11.

Monday, 3/4 - SNOW DAY! I hope you stayed warm and fuzzy. Can a person "stay fuzzy"? I'm not sure what that means or why I said that. I suppose this is really a test to see how many of my lovely discipuli actually read this website. Sigh.

Tuesday, 3/5 - we worked with 3D vectors. Here are the slides from class with notes and here are the problems we worked on in class.

Wednesday, 3/6 - Mr. Lao is absent chaperoning a field trip. You worked on arithmetic operations with 3D vectors. Here are the problems from class, including your HW which is p. 634 (Ex. 14.1) #5a, 11, 14, 15, 21.

Thursday, 3/7 - we studied when we know vectors are parallel to each other. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is p. 416 (Ex. 9.3) #5-6, 8-10, and for an optional challenge, #25.

Friday, 3/8 - we didn't have class because it's a half day and you had an EE workshop. Your Class II College Field Trips are upcoming on Tuesday, April 16th. Please submit your preferences for which trip you'd like to attend at this link. Please submit your preferences by 10PM, Monday, 3/11.

Monday, 3/11 - we were introduced to the scalar product ("dot product") with vectors. Here are the slides from class and here is the discovery packet that you worked on in class. Your HW is p. 424 (Ex. 9.4) #1abc, 5a, 12, (optional challenge #11) & p. 642 (Ex. 14.2) #1ab, 2, 16. Your Class II College Field Trips are upcoming on Tuesday, April 16th. Please submit your preferences for which trip you'd like to attend at this link. Please submit your preferences by 10PM tonight.

Tuesday, 3/12 - we explored some of the key properties of the dot product. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is p. 424 (Ex. 9.4) #3, 10 & p. 642 (Ex. 14.2) #7, 8, 19, 26.

Wedensday, 3/13 - we practiced a variety of problems involving the dot product. Here are the slides from class. Here are the problems we did in class. Here are your HW problems, some of which we'll also try in class tomorrow. Here are the solutions to these problems.

Thursday, 3/14 - we practiced a variety of vector problems in preparation for our quiz tomorrow. Here are the problems we tried in class. Here are the solutions to these problems.

Friday, 3/15 - we learned about vector equations of lines. Here are the slides from class. Here are the notes from class, including your HW, which is #1-4 on the final page. This material won't be on the quiz happening on Monday.

Monday, 3/18 - you have a quiz on everything we've worked with so far with vectors.
