We continued solving novel problems today. In class, we worked individually and in groups, using our process: PLAN, ATTACK, CHECK, REFLECT.
There are several documents for this unit that will be helpful to us:
- The introduction and rationale for this unit.
- The flowchart explaining the process to which we will adhere.
- The problem solving rubric by which your problem write ups will be assessed.
- The calendar of important dates, and problems for this chapter, hints included.
Here are the marked slides from today's class.
Your HW:
- One rough draft of one problem will be due by email to me by 6PM Saturday. Title your Word document "R#_Last_First_Draft", so for example, "R1_Lao_Daniel_Draft".
- Bring one printed/handwritten draft to class on Monday for peer editing
- Email me any seating preferences you have (near the front, not with this person, I work well with this person, etc.)
Important reminders:
- Sat. 9/21, 6PM: one rough Word draft entitled "R#_Last_First_Draft" emailed to Mr. Lao
- Tues. 9/24: rough drafts returned with comments by Mr. Lao or Ms. Yang
- Mon. 9/30, 8AM: final drafts for three problems due by email.
- Word documents may include pictures of diagrams. Make sure you still describe the process.
- Write up: four sections (PLAN, ATTACK, CHECK, REFLECT) based on the flowchart and the rubric (see links to documents above).
- If you make a CONJECTURE, make sure you try to PROVE or EXPLAIN that CONJECTURE.
- Jupiter Grades account: I share an account with Ms. Yang, so don't be alarmed one day if you log in and see her name instead of mine. Email me if you have any problems.
