Thursday, 10/8 - Tuesday, 10/20 (Normal Curve)

Post date: Oct 8, 2015 2:42:19 PM

We started our next unit of statistics, about making inferences from data and analyzing any conclusions we make. The first part of this unit is looking at normal curves and normal distributions.

Please look below for announcements regarding Wednesday of next week for seniors. In addition, all seniors, please by Tuesday, 10/13 - EVERYONE fill out this survey: http://bit.ly/TBLSEE.

Thursday, 10/8 - we did an introduction to the normal curve. Here are the slides from class, and here is a link to the video that you watched about migratory birds. Your HW is to be nice to somebody that you don't normally talk to.

Friday, 10/9 - we did calculations on the normal curve involving the 68-95-99.7 empirical rule. Here are the slides from class. Your HW for the weekend is this worksheet. Here is a link to the video that we watched about the Boston Beanstalks Club.

Monday, 10/12 - Columbus Day (No School).

Tuesday, 10/13 - We used our GDCs to calculate normal curve percentages. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is this worksheet.

Wednesday, 10/14 - Boston trip for Class IV; PSAT Day for Classes III and II; All Class I discipuli will arrive at 8:30 and participate in the first Senior Swag Day* and attend senior-specific workshops. The day concludes with a senior picnic on the playground until 1:50.

(*sneakers ok, jeans ok, tops must have TBLS logo or be from a TBLS activity or club)

Check the signs in the atria starting on Tuesday, 10/13 for specific details about room assignments and groupings for the workshops.

Thursday, 10/15 - We used our GDCs and used the inverse normal feature to find quantiles. We'll have an IPS tomorrow, so no HW tonight. Here are the slides from class.

Friday, 10/16 - We're going to do an IPS about z-scores, which are things we can find on the normal curve.

Monday - 10/19 - we'll do practice problems about the normal curve and normal distributions.

Tuesday, 10/20 - We'll have a quiz on everything about the normal curve. Topics on the quiz include calculating probabilities/percentages on the normal curve, using our GDCs to find those percentages, and using our GDC for the inverse normal function to find quantiles. Z-scores are extra, and will not be on the quiz.
