We're looking at what derivatives tell us about a function's behavior this week. On Friday we will review for a quiz that will happen on Monday. The quiz will not include content about function behavior and will only be about finding derivatives, and finding tangent and normal lines.
Monday, 2/29 - we looked at a function's behavior, specifically whether it is increasing or decreasing. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is p. 405 (Ex. 14.4) #1, 4, 5.
Tuesday, 3/1 - we practiced using sign diagrams to determine on which intervals a function is increasing or decreasing. Here are the problems from class. Your HW is from those problems, #2 on the back letters i, j, k, and l.
Wednesday, 3/2 - we looked at stationary points of functions. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is p.413 (Ex. 14.5) #1bc, 2, 3ab.
Thursday, 3/3 - we did practice problems about stationary points. Here are the problems from class. Your HW is the back of that worksheet, #5, abcde.
Friday, 3/4 - we reviewed for our quiz which is happening on Monday. Here are the problems from class. HW for the weekend is to study for your quiz on Monday.
Monday, 3/7 - we have a quiz on finding the derivative, and using the derivative to find the equation of a tangent line and a normal line. The problems from Friday are good practice.
