We started our last unit of study this week - calculus.

Tuesday, 2/2 - we looked at every day rates of change in preparation for a deeper study of rates of change. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is to read (no need to take notes) on this short NY Times article about limits.

Wednesday, 2/3 - we looked at the problem of finding Ms. Yang's exact speed at 7:30 PM. Here are the slides from class, here is the worksheet from class, and here is the running data. Your HW is to read (no need to take notes) on this short NY Times article about calculus (here's another link if that one didn't work).

Thursday, 2/4 - we looked at the relationship between average rates of change, slopes of secant lines, instantaneous rates of change, and slopes of tangent lines. Here are the slides from class.

Friday, 2/5 - we looked at slopes of secant lines. Here are the slides from class. Here are the problems from class. No HW - Happy Lunar New Year!

Tuesday, 2/9 - we looked at tangent lines on graphs and on your GDCs. Here are the slides from class. Here is the worksheet from class which includes your homework for tonight.

Wednesday, 2/10 - we generated the Power Rule for derivatives based on patterns. Here are the slides from class. No HW tonight.

Thursday, 2/11 - we looked at the definition of the derivative. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is p. 394 (Ex. 14.1) #4, 5, 8.

Friday, 2/12 - we looked at the finding derivatives of sums of functions. Here are the slides from class. Your HW is to get a final draft of your EE done!

Happy break!
