Unique Lighting

This project was all about unique lighting and using things you wouldn't usually as lights. Robbie and I went into the storage closet with the laser pointer. I set my camera on a 30 second shutter speed and a FP of 100. We turned off the lights and started drawing on the floors and walls. For this specific picture I drew on the book shelf. On the upper shelf I spelled the word "read". The bottom shelf was empty so I drew all over the back of the shelf that you can see. Even though you can't see the books too clearly, I felt that read would connect to the background. It also talks about how people with technology don't read as many books than they used to. There is a lot of line involved in this picture especially because the laser is so tiny creating smaller lines across the photo. The books and other items on both the upper and lower shelf create a form of texture as the light sweeps across it going in and out of creases.

The composition rules showcased in this are sharp focus and informal balance. You see the sharp focus in the fact that everything is in focus. Even though t is dark the books on the bottom and the writing are all in focus of the camera. The informal balance is seen in the wording of "read" and how it got squished towards the end when I was writing it. This creates a heavier feel to one side along with the strips of light that are out of the shelf at the bottom and only on one side. If I were to do anything better it would be the writing on the book shelf. I wish it was more clear to read that way my message was clearer to the audience.
