Donate Life

The donate a life project was to help support and raise awareness of organ and tissue donation in Maine. I included a slogan saying 'Your organ and tissue donation saves lives.' I drew for my poster the check mark that you get on your driver's license if you sign up to be an organ donor. Then I drew an arrow leading to a pair of lungs to represent an organ that you might donate if you've signed up to be a doner. The next arrow leads to a silhouette of a person whom I colored yellow to show him like he's glowing with new life. THe chain is showing someone getting new lungs and being able to live because he got a donation from someone who was signed up for organ and tissue donation. I used markers and sharpie to do this draft of the poster and I used colored pencil for my finished project. A lot of my project involved color and using that color for emphasis.

The main composition rule that is showcased in my drawing was sharp focus. Because I didn't blend any of the marker, there were no fuzzy edges or blurred lines to implicate soft focus. My idea for this project changed a couple times before I landed on this sketch. At first I wanted to do something with a heart but I decided lungs were a better organ to draw.

I did this project over again because my first drawing was very rushed and had multiple errors in it that I wanted to fix because I knew I could do better.
