Color Selection and Multiplicity

Flag Color Selection

Person Multiplicity

These are two photos I edited in photoshop. One is of American flags in Freeport along the British goods restaurant. The second photo is of Rachel in the cafeteria after school. In the first one my main focus was selective color in which I focused on the flags. For the second one I layer images of Rachel over a photo of her in order to make it look like there were multiple of her at one time. The images were made using the people and things around me. Rachel was my friend who was there at the time that I needed to take photos for this project and we were in the cafeteria so we used that setting the best we could. In the color selective photo I was walking around after school and decided to take that photo. I definitely focused on color in the first one and the photo is an example of emphasis between the colored objects and the black and white background. The second picture shows more movement in a way where Rachel moved from one spot to the next.

My color selection photo includes many composition rules and techniques such as leading lines, selective focus, informal balance, and high horizon line. The leading lines are the side walk and the wall of flowers directing the reader's attention towards the back of the photo. You can see the high horizon line back behind the building in the right. My multiplicity showcases high key lighting because of the cafeteria lights. While working on the color selection, at first I couldn't decide between coloring the flowers or the flags. I ended up doing the flags because I thought they were a better symbol than the flowers. I had taken two different sets of photos for the multiplicity project and didn't know which to use. This was eventually decided by which looked better in the end. I chose this one because it had more lines that lined up better and looked better overall because Rachel wasn't overlapping as much as she was in the other set of photos.

I wish I had more time on these two photos. I feel a series of each type would've looked nice together. If I could touch up one thing it would be adding more people in the multiplicity image. I think the photo is a bit unbalanced so I would've taken another photo of Rachel on the right somewhere and then layered that on to make it more even.
