In the fourth round of this architecture concentration I decide to do more of a victorian style house. The older era houses have a select style of roofing and detail. As I outlined the sketch I wanted it to be a simple piece compared to what victorian houses look like. All my lines are very concise and straight and my shapes are usually large with little breaks. For the house I used watercolor like many of my other paintings, using the same layering technique for more detail and concept. For the background and the tree in the foreground I used ink instead of continuing with water color for contrast with the saturation of the colors. The paper I used was a different texture than typical watercolor paper, therefore it was harder to get the ink to spread over the paper as the watercolor did. This required more strokes an morre color so I added multiple shades of blue and green to cover more space. I didn't do full coverage of the sky and allowed the paper to show in order to create a border/emphasis on the house itself. I feel that the colors of the house should have been darker to stand up to the vibrant colors of the ink.
