Coil and Carve

For this project we started a new building technique called coil technique. I started with a flat base and then rolled out long coils. These coils became the walls of my pot. I continued adding coils until I reached my preferred. Part of the project was to carve into our pots. Seeing as it was around halloween I decide to do a jack-o-lantern with a twist. I felt that the one face I created didn't take up much room, so I was inspired by the theater masks and created a second jack-o-lantern on the other side. I used underglazes to get the right colors for my Jack-o-lantern and then used clear glaze to make it shine.
