Concentration #10

The Chaos

14"x 10"

plastic and ink pen on canvas

There is an unspoken order in chaos.

In a society built on rules,

the beauty is in seeing them broken.

For this project I started with a material that I wanted to use and from that I created my poem. I saw that we had a bucket full of empty film containers in the art classroom and I have always wanted to create a piece out of plastic. I started cutting containers into random shapes and hot gluing them to random spots on a piece of canvas. This piece is more abstract than many of my other projects from this year and was a good break from thinking of objects. I focused on the balance of black and white plastic as well as not repeating shapes and figures. I used pen to write my poem on the canvas and paint to add more color to my piece. Where I started gluing my pieces closer together than the area where I was finishing my project. The abstractness of this piece inspired me to write about chaos and randomness.
