Relationships

For this project we had to photograph relations in the world. It could be nature or human. I chose to do the relationship between the sunset and the clouds. I took the picture out in my front yard and looking down the road. This was during sunset and the clouds were a bright purple. With the sun reflecting off the clouds it created this mix of bright colors and a beautiful hue on everything. Because the print is in black and white, I had to paint over the clouds to bring back the color. Without the color my relationship item would've gotten lost in the photo.

The color in my photo is very strong because I used bright colors that mimicked the colors in the original photo. It's also the only section of color so it contrasts with the grays, which makes in more noticeable. Much of the space is activated by either the picture or the paint and that makes the picture more interesting. This is a good example of low key lighting and low horizon line. The low key lighting is shown in the fact that everything is gray and dark along with the fact that the street lamp is on. You can see the low horizon line beyond the trees and I consider it low because it's just below the middle of the print. At the bottom you can see spots of gray where I had to paint over some colored paint that I had accidentally gotten on my final print.
