Competition Design

For these competition designs I determined that they would look better as graphic design pieces with bigger and bolder lines that would stand out among solid backgrounds. The two competitions we did were the #Create4ME and the Doodle for Google. Both of these have big messages that we are supposed to create around. The create4me was based on the MLTI conference that happens in Maine once a year. The winning design is printed on a t-shirt for people to wear at the conference so the design had to be bold and thick enough to be copied onto a shirt. The winning doodle for google is set as the logo of google for a day and has to be thick enough to fit the proportions of the original google logo design. For the MLTI conference design I felt that I should show the amount of support this group gets by drawing the conference itself as my design. First thing I did was outline the stage and added curtains to frame the piece. I then drew the people that are on the stage, but to make my piece unique I didn't draw the heads of them and drew brains instead. I did this to symbolize intelligence. Then I added the logo in the background as a banner above the stage. I felt this was the best way to incorporate the logo as it was big and clear in my design. To finish this piece I drew a crowd at the bottom of the paper to show others watching and listening to the people on the stage.

For the Doodle for Google, the prompt was "in the future..." and we were to transform the letters into things we hoped would be in the future. The first letter was the capital G and for that I decided to draw an orca swimming in a tank. What I said for this letter is that I hope animals won't live in captivity in the future. Then for the first o I did two hands held together. I chose to do them in black and white to represent race, religion, and gender/sexuality an how we all should come together no matter what in the future. For the second o, I turned into CO2 in order to represent global warming and the CO2 emissions that are heating our planet and that I hope we can reduce these emissions in the future. Next was the lowercase g that I made a factory out of with the tail being the runoff into a river showing the pollution that factories create. I hope that in the future we will eliminate waste and pollution for a healthier planet. The L was turned into a tree with a not cut sign on the front. This represents my hope that we will stop cutting down forests and trees in the future. Lastly, for the e I created the earth with my last hope that we can save it and live sustainably here past 2050.
